To have a healthy country, we must do more than make sick people well; we also need to know what makes people sick in the first place. Decisions regarding how to best allocate funds in order to enhance the health of the Canadian population must be based on solid scientific evidence.

The Manitoba Centre for Health Policy   (MCHP) research in the areas of illness patterns in the population, health service utilization, and factors that affect health provides critical information to the health policy process.

This lecture provides an overview of the Centre’s population-based approach to health research and presents examples of recent studies.
