Many cases of infantile paralysis used to occur all over the world. US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a victim and through his influence much reseach was undertaken and the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in the 1930s was founded with its March of Dimes. This organization works on premature births and the like since it has lost its theme.
