I am whithin The Valencian School of Studies for Health-EVES (http://eves.san.gva.es/ ). You can contact me through e-mail in: ballester_fer@gva.es

EVES was created in 1987 by the Regional Government of Valencia, and is dedicated to education, research and advisor in Public Health and Health Administration.

During the last 10 years I have been working with the Epidemiology and Statistics Unit. We are two statisticians, one epidemiologist (myself) and six research assistants within the Unit.

Since several years ago, investigation on the effects of air pollution on health is one of our major areas of specialization. At the beginning, we started to seek in the impact of air pollution on health in the city of Valencia. Then, and it is one of the most exciting parts of our research, we became involved in some multicenter studies. Two of them are European Union financed studies: the APHEA project, a epidemiological study on the short term effects of air pollution; and the APHEIS project, a public health information system on air pollution effects in Europe (www.apheis.org). At the national level, we are the coordinating centre of the multicenter Spanish project about the impact of air pollution in 16 Spanish cities (EMECAS).
