In China, there was a dramatic improvement in socioeconomic conditions in a traditionally deprived village after iodine intervention. However there were many confounders in this specific situation ( many additional factors changed as well) as to make the evaluation of the impact of iodine status improvement on the economic changes, difficult to study.
