To stop the northward move of the Mexican economy, Mexico looks for ways to bring investment and infrastructure into the southern and central regions. One program, "Adopt-a-Community," seeks to mobilize successful Mexican American padrinos (godfathers) to invest in southern regions in an effort to bring employment, education, health services and other infrastructure to the indigenous regions
