The tumor represser gen p53 is found mutated in most pulmonary cancers conllevando a decrease in apoptosis and an increase in drug resistance. Futhermore, this gene regulates angiogenesis. The intratumoral injection of Ad-p53 in combination with radiation therapy has demonstrated tumor regression.

A combination of genic therapy with As-p53, chemotherapy and radiation can be an efficient strategy for the treatment of human cancers.
