GeoSentinel is an excellent example of the contribution of travel medicine to the early detection and reporting of imported infections. Conducted jointly by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA) and the International Society of Travel Medicine, GeoSentinel has contributing travel clinic sites throughout the World (Freedman et al., 1999).
