This lecture uses Manitoba, Canada as a case example to highlight a method for measuring quality of care using administrative data. It is based on the article “Can the Quality of Care in Family Practice Be Measured Using Administrative Data?” that appeared in the December 2006 issue of Health Services Research.

The work discussed here was conducted as part of a larger study at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy (MCHP). MCHP is a research unit within the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Research conducted at MCHP is population–based and focuses on the health care use of Manitobans.
