Phases of community’s response to a disaster:
Heroic—strong, direct emotions focusing on helping people survive;
Honeymoon—drawing together of people who simultaneously experienced the event;
Disillusionment—feelings of disappointment because of delays, failures when promises of aid are not fulfilled (people seek help for themselves rather than for the community)
Reconstruction—reaffirmation of belief in community when new buildings are constructed
