In fact, for several major developing regions, more people already die of non-communicable disease than from communicable disease.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, for example, there are almost twice as many deaths from non-communicable diseases as communicable disease. In China, there are 4 ½ times as many deaths from non-communicable diseases. Only in India and Sub-Saharan Africa do communicable diseases still dominate, accounting for 51 % and 65 % of deaths respectively.
