Within the framework of the Visiting Scholar Program, the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) and TWAS-AREP organized a lecture entitled " The intersection of Earth Observations and Data Science addressing the fate of our Ecosystems". The lecture was delivered by Dr. Hesham M. El-Askary, Professor of Remote Sensing and Earth System Science, Center of Excellence in Earth Systems Modeling and Observations and Director Graduate Programs in Computational and Data Sciences at Schmid College of Science and Technology, on Tuesday, 10 December 2019; 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center.
In this lecture, Prof. El-Askary addressed how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) can be used in the field of earth systems science and how the recent advances in AI allow us to expand our deep understanding and knowledge of the Earth's system driven from actual data and observations. Also, he discussed how advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning serve to address environmental challenges facing citizens, governments, natural resource managers and decision-makers.
The Visiting Scholar Program is a special program organized by (CSSP) by which it invites an international scholar each year to visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) for a certain period of time, with the aim of disseminating and exchanging knowledge with other scholars, researchers and students working in the same field of expertise.
