Objective: This course aims to study the relationship between Arab sciences and Alexandrian sciences.

Content: This course will address the three phases that Arab sciences went through in interaction with ancient Alexandria. The first phase was the translation of Alexandrian sciences from Greek into Arabic. At that phase, scholars, such as Hunayn bin Ishaq, Thabit bin Qurra and others emerged and they took the initiative in this regard. Then came the second phase, in which the Arabs wrote encyclopedic works in various fields of science and knowledge. Finally, the third phase came in, where the Arabs, such as Ibn al-Nafis and Ibn al-Haytham criticize and analyze the Greek works of scholars, such as Galen, Ptolemy and Euclid.
