Elective

Objective:  Introduces the student to Roman history and important Roman events and personalities.

Content:  The course deals with an introduction to Roman history from the founding of the city in (753 BCE) to the fall of the Roman republican regime with the assassination of Julius Caesar in (44 BCE). During the course, the main events in the history of the Romans will be reviewed, such as the early Roman Republic, the stages of the conflict between the Romans, the Roman expansion in Italy until unity, the first and second Punic wars, and the Roman expansions in the eastern Mediterranean. Some important personalities will also be studied, such as Marius Sulla, Pompey, Cicero, Caesar, and Augustus.
