Brief

Pottery making is one of the oldest techniques known to mankind and spread in various ancient civilizations. Pottery pots were one of the basic daily needs of various peoples.

The manufacture of pottery goes through several stages, starting from the places of collecting the clay used in its manufacture, passing through the stage of shaping and polishing, and ending with burning, which turns the clay from a soft substance into a very hard substance that water has no effect on.

During each of the previous stages, the ancient man used a variety of different techniques, influenced by the circumstances and possibilities available around him. In the formation stage, he formed the pots by hand, then on the pottery wheel, and then the molding technique appeared.

Hence, this lecture will shed light on the development of each stage of the pottery-making.
