The Center organized a series of lectures entitled "The Relations between the East and West from the Middle Ages until the Turn of the Modern Era" by Prof. Albrecht Fuess, Professor of Islamic Studies, Philipps- University of Marburg, Germany, from 29–31 October 2019, from 1:00 –4:00 pm, at the Delegates Hall, Conference Center, Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

The lectures aim at raising the efficiency of postgraduate students and researchers in both Egyptian universities and research centers. This aim is achieved by exposing them to international experiences and research methods in studying the relation between the Occident and Orient from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the Modern Ages.

Lectures Themes:

  • Research methods in historic studies with special concern to the Arabic and European resources in the Middle Ages.
  • The relation between Christian occident and Islamic orient in the Middles Ages.
  • The efforts of European orientalists in studying the relation between the Occident and Orient.
  • Introduction to EGYLandscape project that studies the Egyptian landscape during the late  Mamluk and early Ottoman periods.
