The Center is organizing a lecture entitled “The Evolution of the Urban and Architectural Character in Egypt during the Late 19th  and 20th  Centuries” delivered by Dr. Ahmed Sedky Expert of Architectural and Urban Heritage, on Thursday, 11 May 2023; 1:00-300 pm. The lecture will be held in the Auditorium Hall, BA main building.

The conventional urbanism characterizing our medieval towns remain the same for centuries until Egypt witnessed the cultural rupture and Muhammad Ali's Europanization of the Egyptian institutions. Egyptian cities, thus, witnessed great transformations. During the lecture, the morphologies in the urban fabrics, architecture, and lifestyles that dominated major cities in Egypt during the most critical decades of its modern history during the 19th and 20th centuries will be explored.
