The Big Read 2010

The winners of the Big Read contests were announced on Monday, November 22nd, 2010. During the award ceremony, prizes were given to the winners, and all participants - the works of whom had been accepted - received certificates. All accepted works are currently exhibited at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center; the exhibition is open till Thursday, November 25th, 2010.

The award ceremony included a lecture about this year's Big Read novel (The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn  by Mark Twain) by Prof. Dr. Nazek Fahmy, professor of American literature at the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, as well as multimedia presentations showing this year's Big Read activities: workshops for mosaic, animation, and photography in the Young People's Library, and a drama workshop in the Main Library, in which participants re-wrote parts of the novel and transformed them to drama scenes that were staged on October 7th and 11th. About 40 library readers from various age groups participated in the workshop, including a group of deaf-mutes.
