Bibliotheca Alexandrina in the 29th Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI) Conference

Alexandria, Egypt, 19–21 November 2018

    The Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI) Conference, in its 29th round, will be held in the Red Sea University, Port Sudan, the Republic of the Sudan, 19–21 November 2018, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture in Sudan, and in cooperation with the Sudanese Association for Libraries and Information, the Red Sea State and the Red Sea University.

    The title of the Conference this year is Moving Ahead: A Futuristic Vision to the Role of Specialized Federations and Associations in the Field of Library, Information and Archives in the Arab World. The AFLI Conference is attended every year by esteemed library and information science professionals and academics from Egypt and all the Arab world, exchanging their experiences, presenting their researches, and sharing their initiatives in relation to the various topics covered in the conference.

    The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), represented in the Arabic Library Standards, attends the Conference, exhibiting its various publications, such as MARC 21 Formats in Arabic, with their latest updates, in addition to presenting its developing new projects and standards. This will take place in the Conference Exhibition, Bibliotheca Alexandrina Booth.

    It is worth mentioning that MARC 21 Formats are standards by which bibliographic information is documented in a machine-readable form. It is considered one of the most efficient systems in data creation and sharing. Hence, the Arabic translation benefits Arab catalogers, providing them with an international standard in their mother tongue.

مكتبة الإسكندرية تشارك بالمؤتمر التاسع والعشرين للاتحاد العربي للمكتبات والمعلومات (اعلم)

الإسكندرية، مصر، 19–21 نوفمبر 2018.

    يقام مؤتمر الاتحاد العربي للمكتبات والمعلومات (اعلم)، في دورته التاسعة والعشرين، في جامعة البحر الأحمر بمدينة بورتسودان، بجمهورية السودان، في الفترة من 19 إلى 21 نوفمبر 2018، تحت رعاية وزارة الثقافة بجمهورية السودان، وبالتعاون مع الجمعية السودانية للمكتبات والمعلومات، وولاية البحر الأحمر، وجامعة البحر الأحمر.

    ويحمل مؤتمر هذا العام عنوان «التقدم إلى الأمام: رؤية مستقبلية لدور الجمعيات والاتحادات المتخصصة في المكتبات والمعلومات والأرشيف بالعالم العربي». هذا، ويشهد المؤتمر في كل عام تمثيلًا كبيرًا لمجتمع المكتبات والمعلومات بشقيه المهني والأكاديمي، من مصر وجميع أنحاء الوطن العربي؛ حيث يتبادل الحضور خبراتهم المختلفة، ويعرضون أبحاثهم، ويشاركون مبادراتهم التي تتمحور حول المواضيع المتنوعة التي يناقشها المؤتمر.

    وتشارك مكتبة الإسكندرية، متمثلة في المعايير العربية للمكتبات، في المؤتمر؛ حيث تعرض مطبوعاتها ومشروعاتها المختلفة، مثل «صيغ مارك 21» بالعربية، بالإضافة إلى مشاريعها المستقبلية. وهذا في معرض المؤتمر، بجناح مكتبة الإسكندرية.

    من الجدير بالذكر أن «مارك 21» هو المعيار الذي من خلاله يتم توثيق المعلومات الببليوجرافية في شكل مقروء آليًّا. ويعد من أكثر النظم فعالية في بناء البيانات ومشاركتها بين المكتبات. وجاءت ترجمته إلى العربية لتفيد المفهرسين العرب، متيحة لهم هذا المعيار العالمي بلغتهم الأم.
