TWAS-ARO Regional Prize in Science Diplomacy

The TWAS-ARO Regional Prize 2014 for Science Diplomacy will honour teams who have collaborated on a transboundary research project contributing to, or made possible by, good international relations. The aim is to begin to bring the term 'Science Diplomacy' to the attention of both the research and diplomatic communities in developing countries.


TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visit: deadline 31 March

The TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme provides postdoctoral researchers (preferably within 5 years of receiving their PhD) from sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa) with the opportunity to make a 'Cooperation Visit' to an institute in Germany. TWAS-ARO 9th Annual Meeting

The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries' Arab Regional Office (TWAS-ARO) held its 9th Annual Meeting, 29-30 December 2013, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. On the occasion of its annual meeting, an inter-disciplinary forum on Science and Education held under the theme: Science and Technology Education for Sustainable Development in the Arab Region.


TWAS 2014 Prizes

The TWAS 2014 Prizes will be awarded to in recognition of an outstanding contribution to knowledge in the following eight fields of science: Agricultural Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Mathematics, Medical Sciences and Physics.


TWAS- Celso Furtado 2014 Prize in Social Sciences

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) in cooperation with the Arab Regional Office for the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS-ARO), will continue its support towards young researchers by organizing the "Research Ethics and Commercialization" Workshop. The event will take place 19-21 November 2013, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria, Egypt.
