Libraries Guide: Palestinian Legislative Council Library (Parliamentary Libraries)

The Palestinian Legislative Council Library is one of several departments affiliated to the Presidency of the Council. Plassas serves the members of the Council and the supporting staff, in addition to some governmental institutions, NGOs, academic researchers, journalists, economists and legal experts.
The library was established at the beginning of 1997. Since then, the modern infrastructure of a modern library and modern technology has been constantly under construction. Based on the use of the latest IT systems. During the last short period of time, the library staff was able to provide it with more than 7,000 volumes. In addition to a number of specialized periodicals and microfilms specialized in various aspects. Including the subjects of laws and legislation, political science, economics, refugees, Jerusalem, education and social sciences, the media, ie the focus on covering all the concerns of the committees emanating from the Council and the issues related to Palestine

Objectives:

The service of the Palestinian legislator to improve its legislative and regulatory responsibilities by providing the necessary information to meet the needs of PLC members and current and future employees in a timely manner using the latest technologies available.

• Providing information on parliamentary work in all its forms and sources
• Provide the deputies and the assistant staff in the Council to verify data and information, especially statistical ones
• Preparation of a comprehensive inventory of different types of services and observatories specialized information in areas related to the work of the Council
• Establishing a broad network of local and international contacts to support parliamentary work
• Indexing and cataloging library holdings according to the Library of Congress system
• Prepare a bibliographic database mechanism
• Provide reference services
