   Biography
 
Victor Parque is an Associate Professor (tenured) at Hiroshima University, his interests span the principles and applications of learning and intelligent systems in design engineering, mechatronics, robotics, computing, optimization, planning, and control. He is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in journals and international conferences of well-known academic societies. He has been honored with several competitive research grants and is actively involved in collaboration with the industry. He was honored as a finalist in the Hummies Awards for Human-Competitive Results from the ACM Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference, an Honorary Diploma in Systems Engineering, the Outstanding Paper Award from CANDAR, and the distinction of top 10% selected papers at the International Conference on Engineering Design. As an Associate Professor of Waseda University, member of the Japanese Supporting University Consortium (JSUC), he conducted operational and strategic endeavors supporting the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology aiming to stablish the first research-oriented university in Egypt in collaboration between the Japanese and Egyptian stakeholders. He is a member of IEEE - Computational Intelligence Society (CIS), Systems Man and Cybernetics Society (SMC), Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), ACM Special Interest Group on Genetic and Evolutionary Computation (SIGEVO), and the Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ).
