Alexandria Dialogues, Egypt in 2050 Closing Conference
The Ministry of Planning, Monitoring, and Administrative Reform, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the United Nations Egypt, held the Closing Conference of the Alexandria Dialogues, Egypt in 2050, entitled Images of a Prosperous Egypt in 2050. Under the auspices of H.E. Prof. Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning, Monitoring, and Administrative Reform, the Conference was held on Sunday, 8 December, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Monday, 9 December 2019, 9:30 am - 3:00 pm at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center.

The six Alexandria Dialogues, a series of interactive engagements on the future of Egypt in the year 2050, were held in a partnership between the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the United Nations Egypt between September 2018 and April 2019. Egypt was one of the early adopters of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has taken, in many respects, a leadership role in making these global goals a reality. To ensure that Egypt stays at the cutting edge of SDG thinking, the Alexandria Dialogues sought to build scenarios, examine future socioeconomic challenges, and uncover sustainable pathways toward a continued, vibrant, and prosperous Egypt in 2050. Using the latest foresight techniques, the Alexandria Dialogues offered opportunities to a broad spectrum of decision-makers to exchange ideas, perspectives and points of view about a sustainable future for Egypt in 2050.

At the Closing Conference, the findings and recurring themes of the dialogues were presented and discussed by a broad spectrum of selected Egyptian experts. International best practices on foresight were shared to discuss a way forward for a possible anchoring of foresight in Egypt.
