Dr. Moheb Mina Iskander

Biography:

  • 1988-1993: BSc. In civil engineer Faculty of Engineering Alexandria University Egypt
  • 1995-2000: MSc. In coastal engineer Faculty of Engineering Alexandria University.
  • 2000-2005: PhD In coastal engineer Faculty of Engineering Alexandria University.
  • Scholarships:
    • Port Planning and Infrastructure Design course, Netherlands.
    • Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Netherlands.
    • Climate Change- Mitigation and Adaptation, Sweden.
    • Ocean Observation and Hydrographic Survey, Korea.
  • He has published more than 17 papers in scientific journals and more than 23 conference papers. He is reviewer of several national and international scientific journals.
  • He Modified 2D numerical model (ImSedTran-2D model) for wave distribution and coastal sediment transport with a special module for coral reef. In addition, he developed a simple and low cost system for the hydrographic survey.
  • Member of the Arab Water Council & World Association for Sedimentation and Erosion Research (WASER).
  • Iskander is associate professor and head of hydrodynamic department at coastal research institute. His research focus in environmental coastal protection measures, effect of coastal structures on the coastal zone, coastal structures deterioration, port planning, integrated coastal zone management, water resources management in the coastal zone and effect of the climate changes on the coastal hydrodynamics. He supervises research work focus in modifying the guideline for port design, planning and management.
  • He has been Teaching Physical Oceanography, Hydrographic survey and Marine Statistical Courses at Nautical department, College of Maritime transport and technology, Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Alexandria, Egypt since 2004. Additionally, he is leading capacity building at CoRI.
  • His recent Projects:
    • 2016 - 2017: Coastal protection and control structures for the sea water source of Ghalion Fish Farm National project, Egypt.
    • 2016: Coastal hydrodynamic and Environment study for West Damietta Power Plant Project.
    • 2009 - 2016: Adaptation to Climate Change in the Nile Delta through Integrated Coastal Zone Management, funded by Egyptian government and GEF.
    • 2014 - 2015: Protect the coastal zone of Kitchiner, Egypt, Funded by SPA.
    • 2013 - 2014: Environmental Impact assessment study to construct the fishing port of Damitta, Egypt, funded by Egyptian government.
    • 2008 - 2012: Adaptation to the Impacts of Sea Level Rise in the Nile Delta Coastal Zone, Egypt, funded by Egyptian government and IDRC.
