Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. The CSSP will help researchers and scientists to get the best support needed to advance their work through international collaborations.

TWAS-ARO Young Affiliates 2015 - 2019

TWAS-ARO Young Affiliates 2015 - 2019

 

Nomination Deadline: 14 May 2015.

 

Each year, the five TWAS Regional Offices each select up to five scientists under the age of 40 years to be "TWAS Young Affiliates" for a period of five years.

 

During their tenure, affiliates are invited to participate in TWAS general meetings and conferences.

 

This program seeks to identify the best young scientists in each region of the developing world and provide them with opportunities to network with one another, with TWAS Fellows, and to attend international conferences and other events for young scientists.

 

TWAS-ARO Young Affiliates eligibility criteria:

 

·         Less than 40 years by nomination date

·         Native of an Arab country

·         Has at least 10 international publications in peer-reviewed journals

·         Residing and working in a developing country for at least the past three years.

Development of Scientific Educational Material

 

Nomination Deadline: 14 May 2015.

The TWAS Regional Prizes this year will be awarded in recognition of significant and innovative contributions to scientific educational material.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates for TWAS-ARO Regional Prize must be scientists who have been working and living in a developing country for at least ten years. They must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  •  Scientific research achievement of outstanding significance for the development of scientific thought.
  • Outstanding contribution to the application of Science and Technology to industry or to human well-being in a developing country.

The nominations will only be accepted and valid from:

  1. Members of TWAS-ARO.
  2. Science Academies, National Research Councils, Universities, Scientific Institutions from the Arab Region.

Research Grants Program for Egyptian Researchers

Research Grants Program for Egyptian Researchers

Center for Special Studies and Programs, Bibliotheca Alexandrina offers a number of research grants for Egyptian postdoctoral scientists and researchers in the following scientific fields:

§ Agricultural Sciences
§ Biology and Biotechnology
§ Chemistry and Biochemistry
§ Earth Sciences
§ Engineering Sciences and Technology
§ Information Technology and Bioinformatics
§ Mathematics
§ Medical Sciences
§ Pre-University Education
§ Physics and Biophysics
 
Eligibility and Deadlines
§ Egyptian scholars who have earned their PhD within the past five years (following December 2009).
§ Applicants must hold a current position at a public/private academic or research institution in Egypt, and the research must be conducted in Egypt.
§ Currently engaged or can arrange to work on a joint research project with foreign counterpart(s) at a university or research center abroad.
§ Applicants must not exceed 35 years of age by January 2015.
§ Grant applications must be submitted online before 1 June 2015.
§ The maximum duration of the project is 2 years and the maximum budget that can be granted is 75,000 EGP.
