Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. Bibliotheca Alexandrina is funding innovative ideas for school students.
 
Today's students are tomorrow's leaders. Knowing that, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, as a center of excellence for the production and dissemination of knowledge, aims to encourage young people to interact within their communities and solve the problems they encounter.
 
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is offering Micro Research Grants for Egyptian school students seeking
funds to finance innovative ideas in one of the following fields:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Engineering
  • Environment
  • Information Technology
  • Materials Science
  • Physics

Micro Research Grants 2013 application is now open for all Egyptian school students.
 
The deadline for submitting the 2013 Micro Research Grants applications is 31 August 2013.

TWAS Fellowships: 2013 Call for Applications

Postgraduate, postdoctoral, visiting scholar and advanced research fellowships are now available to scientists from developing countries

The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS) is now accepting applications for its postgraduate, postdoctoral, visiting scholars and advanced research fellowship programmes.

The fellowships are offered to scientists from developing countries and are tenable at centres of excellence in various countries in the South, including Brazil, China, India, Iran, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan and Thailand.

Eligible fields include one or more of the following: Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Astronomy, Space and Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Physics.

2013 TWAS Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa Prize for Young Scientists: Call for Nominations

The TWAS Regional Office for sub-Saharan Africa (TWAS-ROSSA) is calling for nominations of suitable candidates for the 2013 TWAS Regional Office Prize for Young Scientists.

This year’s prize will be awarded for achievements in Basic Sciences.

Nominations are invited from TWAS and AAS (African Academy of Sciences) Fellows, Members of National Academies, Research Institutions, Research Councils, Centres of Excellence and Universities in the sub-Saharan region.

The nomination of women is encouraged.

Science Supercourse

Science Supercourse is a project jointly coordinated by Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and Ronald Laporte, Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Disease Monitoring and Telecommunications at the University of Pittsburgh.SSC Website

This effort was designed to improve information sharing among professionals and educators in four major fields of science: Public Health, Agriculture, Computer Engineering, and Environment. Lectures are shared in PowerPoint format to empower educators around the world.

The SSC is based on involving the community and encouraging professors and experts to participate by adding their own lectures to the website for the benefit of students and teachers everywhere.

If you are a Professor of Agriculture, Computer Engineering, Health or Environmental Health, be part of the SSC and upload your lectures.
