Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. The CSSP will help researchers and scientists to get the best support needed to advance their work through international collaborations.

"Sustainability in Food and Water: An Arab Viewpoint" Conference (TWAS-ARO 12th Annual Meeting), Dead Sea, Jordan

TWAS-ARO held its 12th  Annual Meeting on 18-19 December 2016. This was the first meeting to be held outside Alexandria at the Dead Sea, Jordan.

On the occasion of the annual meeting, a conference tackled food security and water scarcity in the Arab region, was held under the theme: "Sustainability in Food and Water: An Arab Viewpoint" on the occasion of the TWAS-ARO 12th Annual Meeting.
The conference discussed the correlation between the water and food, how to build sustainable systems and frameworks, as well as how to strengthen the networks among the policy makers and scientific committees. It addressed the way Food and Water sustainability improves human well-being, environmental maintenance and food and water saving resources.

The conference was held under the patronage of HRH Prince El-Hassan bin Talal who addressed to the conference attendees a Keynote Speech at the opening session.

Reconnections and The Margaret Thatcher Scholarship Programme at Oxford University

Application dead line:  6 January 2017

 Somerville College and the University of Oxford are offering three new Oxford-Thatcher Scholarships for outstanding graduate students.

The Scholarships provide 100% of University and College fees as well as a generous grant for living costs for the duration of your course.

Apply through the usual Oxford applications process by the January deadline for your course and if you meet the high academic standards and are offered a place you will automatically be considered for the Scholarships, which are available to Master's and DPhil students.

Micro Research Grants Program for Egyptian School Students

 The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), Bibliotheca Alexandrina offers a number of Micro Research Grants (MRG) for Egyptian school students seeking funds to finance innovative ideas in one of the following categories:

 

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Engineering
  • Environmental studies
  • Information Technology
  • Materials Science
  • Physics

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have idea for an invention that can be executed, developed, and improved up on.
  • Students must have a mentor for their project.
  • Student(s) can submit an individual or team project. Team can be no larger than four students.
  • Application forms and required documents are to be completed and submitted before 28 February 2017.
