Call for Applications: Grants to Develop Components of a Curriculum on Responsible Science for Egypt - National Academy of Sciences

Deadline for Application:  31 March 2017

Number of grants to be awarded: up to seven
Available funding per grant: up to $7,000

Funds are available to promote the development of components for a curriculum on responsible science for use with undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research scientists and engineers in the life and physical sciences in Egypt. The framework for this curriculum will be based on the Egyptian Educational Institutes on Responsible Science and the subsequent leadership institute held in Egypt in 2015 and 2016 (see http://rcr.asu.edu.eg and http://www.nas-sites.org/responsiblescience/). These Institutes were organized by The United States National Academy of Sciences, in partnership with Ain Shams University, and in collaboration with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Cairo University, Damanhour University and Mansoura University. The Institutes use principles of active learning and engagement pedagogies to empower faculty and researchers to help their students and peers explore issues of responsible science and related practices.

Successful proposals will:

1) demonstrate how content and instructional methods will be integrated, and
2) provide a clear plan for later assessing the outcomes of the proposed work following the development of the proposed curricular component.

Grants are available only to Egyptian nationals affiliated with Egyptian universities, scientific or engineering institutions or research centers.
