Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. Future of Sustainability Debate

 On the occasion of the World Environment Day, the IUCN Regional Office for West Asia (ROWA) and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina co-hosted the second debate on the Future of Sustainability entitled Transition to Sustainability: Mainstreaming Environment in Social Corporate Responsibility on June 4th, 2009 at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The Forum aimed to mainstream environment in the private sector from Oil and Gas, Financial markets, Construction, Telecom, and Energy companies to share their best practice on Environmental and Social responsibility in a participatory manner.

The objectives of the Forums are to encourage multi-stakeholder participation and commitment to action for sustainability; integrate local and regional knowledge into a new generation of sustainable development thinking and practice; and help embed biodiversity and ecosystem values into mainstream economic sectors.

The African Union Scientific Awards

The African Union Scientific Awards

Science and Technology is one of the key focal areas on Africa’s development agenda. The Constitutive Act, establishing the African Union (AU), recognizes the need to advance the development of Africa by promoting research in all fields, in particular, science and technology.
Therefore, the AU is pleased to announce its Regional and Continental Awards:
1)      The AU Regional Women Scientific Award Programme: . The objective of this programme is to award Cash Prizes and Recognition Certificates to excelling African women researchers for their achievements in Earth and Life Sciences, and Basic, Science, Technology and Innovation sectors.
