Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a research center established in July 2003 in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to play a significant role in the progress of science and technology in Egypt. The CSSP will help researchers and scientists to get the best support needed to advance their work through international collaborations.

Biorobotics Workshop

13-15 December 2010

Following the success of the Biorobotics session that took place during the BioVisionAlexandria International Conference 2010 (www.bibalex.org/bva2010) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), and in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS), and the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST); the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) continues its support towards young researchers by organizing the Biorobotics Workshop, during the period 13-15 December 2010.

Over a period of three days, this Workshop aims to introduce the new science of Robotics and Biorobotics, and to deliver skill quality training to young researchers in these fields.

The Workshop will include sessions and presentations covering different topics in the fields of Robotics as well as Biorobotics. It will also include demonstrations and laboratory experiments to provide attendees with a hands-on experience in that field.

Application criteria

The applicant should be:

1. A young researcher, under the age of 40 years.
2. An Arab national citizen.
3. MSc or PhD student, or post-doctoral researcher, working in the field of Robotics or Biorobotics.

Registration is now open
(Deadline for registration is 14 October 2010).

TWAS Arab Regional Office (TWAS-ARO) is offering a number of sponsorships to eligible applicants to cover the registration fees, travel expenses and accommodation costs.

BioVision.Nxt 2011

BioVision, the World Life Sciences Forum, is inviting 100 promising PhD students and Post-doc to attend the 3 days Forum (27-29 March 2011, Lyon, France) thanks to a Fellowship programme called BioVision.Nxt. On the 26th of March 2011, BioVision.NXT will hold specific activities and workshops, to prepare the selected young scientists for their active participation to the Forum. BioVision.Nxt will provide a unique opportunity for young scientists from both developed and developing countries to interact with some of the world's leading life scientists.
