The BA organized the seminar The Lebanese in Egypt, wherein Osama Khashab, Consul General of Lebanon and Chief of Consular Services in Alexandria delivered a speech. The seminar was held as part of the Alexandria International Book Fair and was attended by the Consuls of England, Spain, Palestine, Sudan, and Italy, as well as well-known figures of Alexandrian society, such as Lord Yashar Helmy and Engineer Ouf Hammam. It was hosted by Hossam Abdelkader, the BA’s Media Advisor.

The seminar began with a slideshow presentation of Egyptian and Lebanese figures, set to Fairouz’s song “I Love You Lebanon”. It was then followed by a speech by Osama Khashab, where he featured a video segment of singer Majida El Roumi singing both the Egyptian and Lebanese national anthems during a concert Khashab had organized three years ago at the BA. He furthermore delivered a presentation on the history of the Lebanese people in Egypt with a brief historical overview on the Ancient Lebanese presence in Alexandria. Khashab also shed light on current Lebanese investments in Egypt, in light of Lebanon’s status as the 15th biggest investor in the country.
