“The Life and Literary Legacy of Archimandrite Wissa” in a Webinar at the BA

The BA Center for Coptic Studies organizes a webinar titled “Archimandrite Wissa: His Life and Literary Legacy”, delivered by Dr. Samuel Moawad, Professor of Coptic Literature, University of Münster, Germany.

The lecture will discuss the life of Archimandrite Wissa, successor of the renowned Archimandrite Shenouda as the head of three large monasteries in the fifth century, located west of Sohag. It will also shed light on the characteristics of Archimandrite Wissa and the historical sources that tackled his legacy, in addition to examining the importance of his epistles and sermons in tracing the history of Coptic monasticism.
