The Bibliotheca Alexandrina released the 49th issue of Memory of Egypt magazine, in celebration of the centenary of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, and the bicentenary of the decipherment of the Rosetta Stone.

The issue comprised several articles written by a number of leading specialists in the history of ancient Egypt, together with photos published for the first time on the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb on 4 November 1922. The topics featured in this issue tackled the historical circumstances and political rivalry that surrounded the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, the destruction of the ruins that belonged to him, the food and drink that was found in his tomb, the press coverage of the discovery of his tomb, and the cinematic works that depicted his life.

In addition, the issue included two articles on the occasion of the bicentenary of the decipherment of the Rosetta Stone: "Champollion in Egyptian Memory" by Dr. Ahmed Mansour, and "Ptolemy and Cleopatra at the Champollion Table" by Dr. Azza Ezzat.

It is worth mentioning that Memory of Egypt magazine is supervised by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, and edited by Dr. Sameh Fawzy. It is distributed at Akhbar Al-Youm outlets and the BA bookstores.
