Hassan Fathy Symposium at the BA

Alexandria—The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med), in collaboration with the Architecture Committee of the Egyptian Supreme Council for Culture, organizes the Hassan Fathy Symposium on Wednesday, 28 October 2009.

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, will give the opening speech, before announcing the winner of the “Hassan Fathy Architectural Award”, which had the theme “Identity in Contemporary Egyptian Architecture”.

Following that, the Symposium will feature key note talks about the humanism, legacy and disciples of Hassan Fathy, as well as preserving his heritage.

An Exhibition featuring participating projects will be held on the fringe lines of the event, and will continue until 27 October 2009 at the BACC East Exhibitions Hall.

The Symposium is held at the BACC Great Hall at 10:00 am. The Symposium and the Exhibition are open for public for free.
