Plaza Films Premiere

Alexandria— The BA Arts Center is organizing a premiere screening of the Plaza Project on 11 November 2009.

Plaza is a filmmaking project created by the Arts Center to support emerging filmmakers from Egypt by producing short narrative films that take place entirely in the BA Plaza. The idea is not limited to the Plaza as a location; it extends to the concept of “Plaza” in our daily life, since it is a place where different categories (age group, cultural background, social class) of the society meet, either BA visitors (Egyptians and foreigners) and staff, students of the University of Alexandria (facing BA), or passersby from the Corniche Road to Port Said street.

The project has fruited three films by three filmmakers from Alexandria; Setta fi Tes'a (6x9), directed by Belal Hosni, 11 min; Ashya' Mushabeha (Resemblances), directed by Sherief Zohairy, 6 min; and Terahen? (You bet?), directed by Mark Lotfy, 16 min.

The films will be screened in the BACC Small Theater at 7:00 pm. The screening will be followed by a seminar with the filmmakers.
