BA Establishes an International Egyptology Center in Honor of Dr. Zahi Hawass
Within the framework of its regional and international role in celebrating international Egyptian scientists working in various fields, the BA is announcing the establishment of the Zahi Hawass Egyptology Center. It will be located at the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) in Smart Village, Giza. This center is the first project adopted by the Director of the BA, Dr. Mostafa el Feki, in light of the great role played by Dr. Zahi Hawass around the world through his public lectures and writings, which influenced human and cultural heritage. Archaeologist Dr. Al Hussein Abdel Bassir, Director of the BA Antiquities Museum, has been assigned to manage this center alongside his work. The center aspires to be a research, educational, and training center that illuminates knowledge on a regional and international level and all over the Arab world. It also aims to gather expertise in the fields of archaeology and cultural heritage, hold archaeological and scientific events, provide specialized courses and research grants that serve scientific research and enhance archaeological work, and display Dr. Hawass's numerous awards for best archaeologist and archaeological research. The center will start its activities with a meeting between Dr. Hawass and children interested in Egyptology and archaeology in front of the pyramid of King Khufu on Monday, 5 February 2018 at 11:00 am. Dr. Hawass will explain the archaeology of the pyramids to the children and will give them some of his published works. The opening ceremony of the center will be held at the Smart Village headquarters and will be attended by many public figures, senior officials, ministers, ambassadors, media personnel, and artists.
