BA Sadat Museum to Celebrate International Museum Day 2018
On the occasion of the International Museum Day (IMD), the BA Sadat Museum, in cooperation with the national committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Egypt), is organizing a celebration titled “Museums and the Internet: A New Public”. The event is set to be held on Monday, 14 May 2018.
The event will include the screening of a short film on the BA Sadat Museum, a presentation of the museum through different social media platforms, a tour of the museum and its most prominent collections, and a number of diverse artistic segments. A collection of publications will also be distributed to the event participants and attendees.
It is noteworthy that the IMD celebrations first began in 1977 under the sponsorship of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), and they are now held on 18 May of every year.
The theme of this year’s celebrations is “Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics”. It focuses on how technology influenced the role of museums and enabled them to reach people beyond their core audience, as well as strengthen and build up connections online and especially via the various social networks, in order to enable visitors to share their experiences via different means. The theme also highlights the establishment of common projects that aim to interpret and present museum acquisitions in a new light.
