The Museum Education Program at the BA Antiquities Museum holds the “Draw and Discover” Competition for the 4th consecutive year, in an aim to spread archaeological awareness among children aged 13–16 year olds, help them develop their talents, and showcase their artistic creations.

The competition revolves around a chosen historical figure, and this year’s round focuses on Harpocrates, the son of Isis and Osiris. The Antiquities Museum houses a number of antiquities featuring Harpocrates, and the showcased artifact was selected from the Ras el-Soda collection.

The competition is divided into two categories. The first category entails participants to present a drawing of the artifact in question. In the second category, participating children will be asked to conduct research on the aforementioned artifact. The submitted research papers must consist of at least six pages. An introductory lecture on Harpocrates will be delivered in order to assist the participants in their research.

The competition is held from 10 to 20 September 2018, and registration begins on Wednesday, 29 August 2018. Winners will be announced and awarded during an award ceremony.
