“The Reading and Publishing of Ptolemaic Hieroglyphs” Workshop at the BA

The BA Writing and Scripts Center organizes a workshop entitled “The Reading and Publishing of Ptolemaic Hieroglyphs”, in cooperation with the Institut français d'archéologie Orientale (IFAO) on 17 and 18 April 2019.  The workshop is delivered by Dr. Lorenzo Medini and Dr. Ali Abdel Halim of the IFAO.

The workshop aims to introduce participants to the writing system of what is known as the “Ptolemaic Hieroglyphs”, or the hieroglyphs, which appeared in the Late Period of Ancient Egypt, and continued until the Hellenistic and Roman Era.

The workshop targets antiquities’ inspectors, researchers of Ancient Egypt and its language, postgraduate students of the Faculty of Archaeology, the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Tourism. It is delivered in both Arabic and English, and takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, 17 and 18 April, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, in the F3 Floating Room (Main Building).

Fees: EGP 200 (for Egyptians) and USD 100 (for non-Egyptians).
