The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a series of events in celebration of the Orphans’ Day, which will take place on Thursday, 8 April 2021 at Khadija Palace in Helwan, and at the Bibliotheca Alexandria headquarters in Alexandria. The celebrations will take place in cooperation with a number of civil organizations and orphanages, and will include several cultural and artistic events, in addition to theatrical performances, workshops, handicrafts, competitions, storytelling, and film screenings. Nominal prizes and gifts will be handed out to the participants.

Orphans’ Day was launched in 2004 in Egypt, adopted in the Arab region in 2006, and later recognized worldwide.

All events are held in line with the precautionary measures followed by the BA to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
