The BA Celebrates the “Cosmopolitanism of Alexandria”

As part of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s ceaseless efforts to revive the dialogue of civilizations, especially among Mediterranean countries, and to reaffirm the city of Alexandria as a melting pot of cultures, the BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med) organizes a celebration on 7 July 2021, at 6:30 pm, on the BA Plaza of Civilizations.

The celebration features the screening of the documentary film A Nation by Choice, which is the product of the partnership between the European Program of International Relations of the National Media Authority and the European Union. It portrays the youth of foreign communities who belonged to “cosmopolitan” Alexandria, and who chose to stay in the city, the cradle of Mediterranean civilization.

Dr. Moustafa El Feki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, highlighted the importance of organizing this celebration, and stressed the Library’s role as the window of the world on Egypt and Egypt’s window on the world, as well as being a center of civilization and a beacon of knowledge, spreading the values ​​of tolerance, understanding and dialogue among peoples.
