The BA Library Sector, in cooperation with “La Rose Impossible” Association, organizes a special poetry evening entitled “From the Seine to the Nile: A Poetic Meeting on Surrealism”, with the attendance of writer Laurent Doucet, President of “La Rose Impossible” Association and Manager of André Breton House in Saint Cirq Lapopie, and French writer and musician Théo Plantefol.

The event will be conducted by Dr. Rim Hafez El-Bakary, Lecturer and Head of the Applied Linguistics Department at the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University. It will take place on Tuesday, 22 February 2022, at 5:00 pm, in the BA Main Building, Reading Area, B1 Level. Students from the Applied Linguistics Department will read some excerpts from the works of Laurent Doucet and Théo Plantefol.

Before the start of the poetic evening, a film will be screened in the BA Multimedia Library, B3 Level. The film is directed by Fabrice Maze, and co-produced by the Centre Pompidou. It presents the workshop where André Breton used to work on Fontaine Street, before the disappearance of Jour et Nuit collection. It also explores the definition of Surrealism as imagined and implemented by Breton before the selling of his exhibition in April 2003.

Please note that seats are limited in the Multimedia Screening Room.
