BA Manuscripts Museum’s Summer Activities

Posted on

The BA Manuscripts Museum organizes a series of free lectures and workshops for schoolchildren aged 10 – 14, under the title “Arabs and Medicine” during the summer vacation, from 29 June to 31 August 2022.

The events aim at introducing the Arab heritage of manuscripts, as well as the most significant discoveries and inventions of Arabs in the field of medicine. The lectures tackle medical science in the Islamic Golden Age, and its influence on human civilization, since the Islamic civilization had produced many physicians, including Avicenna, Abu Bakr Al-Razi, Ibn Al-Nafis, and Al-Zahrawi. Moreover, an overview will be given on the first and most important hospitals in Islamic countries, and how Arab and Muslim physicians have continued to add to medical science to this day.
