Call for Papers: “Mediterranean Islands in Ancient and Medieval History: Influence and Effect” Conference

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, through the Center for Islamic Civilization Studies, the Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies and the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med), is announcing a call for research papers for its upcoming conference “Mediterranean Islands in Ancient and Medieval History: Influence and Effect”, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, 18 – 19 October 2023, in the BACC Delegates Hall.

 

 

 

Themes:

  • Historical relations and cultural influences of the Mediterranean islands.
  • Economic and social life in the Mediterranean islands.
  • The tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Mediterranean islands.
  • Alexandria and the Mediterranean islands (mutual influences).
  • The Mediterranean islands in the writings of travelers and geographers.
  • Preserving the cultural heritage of the Mediterranean islands in light of environmental changes.

Important Dates:

  • The conference will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, 18 and 19 October 2023.
  • The deadline for receiving abstracts is Thursday, 4 May 2023.
  • The notice of acceptance of the abstracts will be sent on Sunday, 4 June 2023.
  • The deadline for submitting the full paper is Sunday, 3 September 2023.
