The BA’s Planetarium team has produced a scientific movie titled Alexandria: The Cradle of Astronomy, which will be played at the Planetarium Center. The movie roles were distributed by Egyptian youth throughout all the movie work stages.

The film revolves around finding similarities between the messages of the old and new Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the common role between both of them in spreading science and culture and the spirit of knowledge and dialogue and excellence in scientific fields. It also discusses how the old Bibliotheca and its scientists played a major role in establishing the basic laws of astronomy, such as Hipparchus, Ptolemy, the Alexandrian Eratosthenes, Apollonius and the famous scientist Hypatia. The film focuses on each scientist’s most important astronomical achievements and clarifies them through the techniques and means of presentation available at the Planetarium.

Alexandria: The Cradle of Astronomy contains scientific and historical, as well as various dazzling elements, and is fit for family, student, or general public viewing. The duration of the movie is 25 minutes, and it is available in both Arabic and English.
