Sixteenth Annual BA Board of Trustees Meeting

President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi presided over the opening session of the sixteenth annual BA Board of Trustees meeting, which was held on 18 and 19 April 2015 in the presence of a number of prominent Egyptian and foreign scientists and intellectuals.

The President began his speech by commending the historic and contemporary role of the BA as a center of culture and enlightenment in the MENA and Mediterranean regions. He also admired its role in preserving heritage in different fields, such as science, art, and culture.

In his speech, the President emphasized the importance of extending the activities of the BA to every corner of Egypt, including the Delta and Upper Egypt, pointing out the importance of exerting every effort to spread decentralization. Moreover, he stated that the BA should move forward with its projects and focus especially on education.

After the meeting, the President offered former President Adly Mansour, current President of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt, the first edition of the BA published book that documents Mansour’s presidential term.

The Board approved the construction of a conference center, exhibition hall, and museum in the 6th of October City. It also approved the restructuring of the Science City project and has agreed to cooperate with a number of American universities for the Distance Learning program: the first BA educational program for graduate students in Egypt and the Arab world.
