Posted on

CultNat, in cooperation with the BA Arts Exhibitions and Collections Department, is organizing  the exhibition showcasing the career of the exceptional Egyptian Egyptologist, Selim Hassan—the first Egyptian to start an active career in excavations under a national organization. The exhibition will be inaugurated on 30 September and will last until 10 October 2015.

The exhibition will display an archive of manuscripts and photographs of Selim Hassan’s excavations in Giza and Saqqara since 1938. In addition, Hassan’s book, The Causeway of King Unas (Wanis), will be displayed for the first time using a new documentation technology.

The exhibition also documents the rescue mission of the Nubia monuments and the maps Hassan drew and the photographs showing the condition of these monuments. A rare collection of photographs will be displayed presenting him during his excavations with family, friends, colleagues, and fellow European archeologists.
