The BA Participates in Al-Asad Library International Book Fair

Alexandria— The BA is participating in the twenty fourth session of the Al-Asad Library International Book Fair, 1- 4 August 2008, with a collection of the BA’s Arabic, English and French publications in various cultural and scientific fields.

Dr. Khaled Azab, Head of the BA Media Department and Deputy Director of the BA Calligraphy Center, stated that the BA will offer discounts to the fairs’ visitors on the occasion of choosing Damascus, the Arab Cultural Capital for 2008. He added that the Fair will include the BA’s latest publications including: Renovation and Foundation in the Architecture of Islamic Societies; Bulaq Press, which was awarded the State Incentive Award in Social Sciences; The History of Writings from Ideogram to Multimedia, which won the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science Award for the best translated book in the Arab region for the year 2006; Al-Arabi.. Diwan of Arab Culture; Akhbar El Yom.. An Egyptian Press School; How to Read the Ancient Egyptian Language?; The Digitization of Knowledge From Stone to Digital Age; and Ibn Khaldun: the Mediterranean in the 14th Century: the Rise and Fall of Empires.

It is worth mentioning that 24 countries including 11 foreign countries, in addition to 32 formal and informal organizations, and 17 publishing houses are participating in the 24th Al-Asad Library International Book Fair. This year’s Fair is offering to its visitors 35 thousand titles in various fields. The Fair will include several cultural events, such as lectures, seminars and a cultural forum under the theme Arab culture between the East and the West.
