Darwin Conference at the BA in November

Posted on

Alexandria—The BA Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), in cooperation with the British Council, organizes an international conference entitled: “Darwin's Living Legacy: An International Conference on Evolution and Society” from 14 to 16 November 2009.

The three-day Conference marks the 200 year anniversary of Darwin’s birth, and the 150 year anniversary of the publication of his book On the Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection.

One of the greatest scientists of all time, with his work forming the foundation of many different research fields, Darwin’s ideas still stir up debate. The Conference aims to explore Darwinism in context, and promote an informed dialogue about evolutionary science, grounded in a mutual respect for differences in ideas, cultures and religious beliefs.

The Conference is part of “Darwin Now”, a series of activities including lectures, educational programs, exhibitions and other.
