France and Mauritania Guests of Honor at the Alexandrina Book Fair

Posted on

Alexandria—The BA Alexandrina International Book Fair hosts, in a new tradition this year, two guests of honor from Europe and Africa, in an attempt to reflect the history and civilization of the city of Alexandria , which is based on pluralism and diversity. The Alexandrina International Book Fair is held from 25 to 14 March 2010.

France was chosen in recognition of its valuable donation of 500,000 books to the BA, making of the BA the main depository of French books in the Arab world, surpassing Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, in addition to also being the main French Library in Asia and Africa.

Mauritania was chosen as an Arab and African guest of honor this year. The Mauritanian Minister of Culture will attend the Fair’s opening together with a senior delegation. It is worth mentioning that Mauritanian culture has recently witnessed a great leap, especially in the field of Arabic poetry.
