The Women Studies and Social Transformation Program of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Academic Research Sector, in collaboration with the International Representative Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, organizes a seminar entitled “Violence against Women: Cultural and Health Perspectives” on Sunday, 24 November 2019, at 10:00 am, in the BACC Multipurpose Hall.

The seminar comes as part of the 16-day campaign (25 November - 10 December 2019), entitled "Together for Her" to fight violence against women, which is held in partnership with the UN Women Egypt, the UNHCR and the National Council for Women. A host of experts from different national and international entities, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and members of the press will participate in the event.

The seminar will tackle important issues concerning violence against women, such as female circumcision and domestic violence, through a cultural and health perspective. It will provide the latest statistics in the field and discuss the best methods to help address those challenges.

It is worth mentioning that the BA will be lit in orange (a symbol of a brighter future without violence) on 25 November 2019 and 10 December 2019, following the example of distinguished landmarks around the world.
